Installing the JAMS Windows Client

This document describes how to install the JAMS Window Client on the Windows 2000/XP/2003 operating system.

The installation procedures are described step by step and are, for the most part, self-explanatory.

4.1 Preparing to Install the JAMS Windows Client

The JAMS Window Client is distributed on CD-ROM. After you insert the CD-ROM into your computer, a browser window will open showing installation instructions. Follow these instructions to begin the installation process.

If a browser window does not automatically open, you can use the Windows Explorer to find the SetupClient.msi program on the CD-ROM. Double-click this program to begin the installation.

The JAMS Windows Client is also available for download over the Internet. If you downloaded the JAMS Windows Client from the Internet locate the SetupClientVx.x.x.msi file that you downloaded and double-click this program to begin installation.

4.1.1 Prerequisite Software

This version of the JAMS Windows Client requires the Windows .NET Framework V1.1 or higher.

4.1.2 Installation Procedure Requirements

The installation generally takes only a few minutes, depending on the type of CD-ROM drive and your system configuration.

Installation of the JAMS Windows Client does not require a reboot.

Installation of the JAMS Windows Client does not replace system DLLs.

4.2 Installing the JAMS Windows Client

The installation will present five screens which require a response:

After the installation is complete you will find a new JAMS menu item under "Start" and then "Programs".

To execute the JAMS Windows Client, select it from the Start Menu.

4.3 Error Conditions

If the installation procedure fails for any reason, a message is displayed and the installation is not performed.
